Collaboration Kits

Sock Kits are going out into the wide world today! I have been working on my small home business every available moment for over a year. This has been one of the most fun and exciting things I've done! Jen and Wendy of piddleloop started with three fun and colorful Amy Butler prints. When they had cut out four pouches worth from each they sent me the fabric scraps so I could dye some coordinating yarn. How awesome is that?

Of course, I had no idea what to do to make sock yarn coordinate with a beautiful and functional knitting pouch, but that didn't stop me! I don't need a clue to jump in the deep end! I started with matching the colors. A couple didn't get matched exactly because they were so dark they tended to bleed and muddy the rest, but for the most part I think I'm spot on.

Meanwhile Jen was cooking up more goodies to include in the kits. Anyone who has ordered from piddleloop before knows that this is one of Jen's specialties! I heard about stitch markers then a pattern being developed and shopping trips into the city.

So it comes down to this: why didn't I make one for me? (and jen! and Wendy!) Really, what was I thinking...

I cannot wait to get mine. You can see the finished sock from the pattern on my blog. (I used flux for the model sock.)

Fantastic! Are these yarn colors exclusive to the kits or can they be available? I got #3, which is really amazingly pretty. I would love some socks out of the Perpetuity colorway as well...

erin/pinkerbell: Awesome! I also saw a sweet baby sweater in some of my yarn. Would you concider posting them to the twisted flickr group? http://www.flickr.com/groups/twisted/

chickengoddess: I don't know if they are exclusive. I'll check with Jen. In fact, I think she wanted some too...

Meg: if you want to keep making those colorways and sell them..by all means feel free to go ahead.

on our side we won't be making any pouches out of those fabrics, our idea was to make them limited edition and only sell those with the yarn and not separately. :D

we simply must do it again down the road. I think people like the exclusivity of it. I'll just remember ahead of time to make us two kits this time! :D

it is going to be very very hard to give away all your beautiful yarn. I only removed it fromt he bags to photograph it the day i listed..cause touching it and looking at it would make it hard to give it all away! much like puppies.

thanks again! who would have guessed that spotlighting a whole slew of crafty people in one fantasic collaboration would have been such a success!

I got my kit from Jennifer and it is lovely. I am quite excited to knit it up, and look forward to another future collaboration project.

They are all gone now. And they will not be repeated. However, it looks very good for us doing a similar kit in the future with different colors etc...
